South Africa are sweating on the fitness of defender Tsepo Masilela and Steven Pienaar of Everton ahead of their win-or-bust Group D tie against Senegal here Thursday.

Masilela picked up a hamstring injury in the team's last game against Tunisia while Pienaar picked up a knock on his ankle during the team's first training at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi Wednesday morning.
Pienaar limped out of training with an ice pack wrapped around his left ankle.
Number once goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez remains sidelined by a dislocated finger and only trained with the rest of the outfield players Wednesday.

However, coach Carlos Alberto Parreira downplayed Pienaar's injury while also saying that Masilela has also been responding to treatment.
"I don't think Pienaar's injury is very serious but we will have another look at it later today," said Parreira.
"Masilela is training okay now. He did not feel any pains when he did some exercises and we will know how fit he is in the next 24 hours. But as of now, he has a 70 per cent chance of playing against Senegal."
Bafana Bafana have recorded a point from two matches and need to win well against Senegal while also hoping there is a winner between the two top teams in the group, Angola and Tunisia, to stand any chance of making it to the quarter-final of the tournament.
