Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o Fils was Friday voted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the best striker of the just-ended 25th Africa Nations Cup tournament hosted and won by Egypt.
Eto'o, who also stars for Barcelona of Spain, scored five goals in the competition, but missed a penalty that eliminated his country from the quarter-final against Cote d'Ivoire.
Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Hassan, was voted the tournament's best player and second best striker to Eto'o.
The Pharaoh's goal tender Essam Al-Hadari, was also voted the tournament's best goalkeeper, while Nigeria's 18-year-old John Obi Mikel was named the best young player of the competition.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria won the bronze medal for coming third, while Cote d'Ivoire got the silver after losing 2-4 in penalty shootout to Egypt.
It was Egypt's fifth Africa Nations trophy after previous victories in 1957, 1959, 1986 and 1998.
