Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned Senegal's full back Habib Beye and Ghanaian midfielder Laryea Kingston from the ongoing Africa Nations Cup (CAN) following their braw during last Friday's first round match in Port Said.
"The two players have been suspended and each of them has been fined 2,000 dollars," a member of the CAF disciplinary commission, Mohamed Al-Seyagui of Egypt revealed in Cairo Sunday.
The two players were sent off after exchanging blows in the second half of the match in which Ghana beat Senegal 1-0.
This is the toughest punishment to be imposed by CAN since its creation. During the previous CAN finals held in Tunisia two years ago, the African soccer governing body had suspended DR Congo's striker Trésor Lomana Lualua for three matches.
