Port Said, Egypt (PANA) - Senegal-born American rapper Aliaune Thiam, alias Akon has charged the Teranga Lions to beat Nigeria's Super Eagles in their last Group D match and advance to the quarter-finals of the ongoing Africa Nations Cup.
Nigeria leads the group with six points, while Senegal and Ghana have three points each.
"I will speak with them (Lions) in their hotel never to lose hope. I am disappointed with the way they played this evening because I came all the way from America to watch them play but they let me down against Ghana," Akon told PANA after watching the Lions lose 0-1 to the Black Stars.
"I am going back to US this night (Friday) and I hope to come back to Egypt if Senegal should qualify to play in the final match," he promised, noting that "(El-Hadji) Diouf was a big let down today (against Ghana) I will play good music into his head before I leave and with that, he gonna pump the heart of Nigerian defence."
But Akon said he would prefer his native country to qualify in Group D along side Nigeria because he has a lot of friends (in Nigeria).
"My last visit to Nigeria was a wonderful experience I have passion for the country as well but for my team to reach the next stage of the competition, they must beat Eagles of Nigeria," Akon added.
