Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - The Egyptian football team's deputy coach, Chawqi Gharieb, said that his players fully deserved the 3-1 victory during the last Group A match of the 25th Africa Cup of Nations against Cote d'Ivoire in Cairo on Saturday.
"It was a difficult and very close match for both coaches who used all their wits. But we won and ended as group leaders, proof that we are the major favourites for the title," Gharieb told a post-match press conference.
Due to the victory, Egypt ended with seven points to lead the group, ahead of Cote d'Ivoire's six points.
Both teams have advanced to the quarterfinals.
