Port Said, Egypt (PANA) - Indications here are that the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) is preparing to contract a foreign coach after the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Egypt.
A crew of three apparently Dutch nationals was seen sitting along side NFA secretary general Fanny Amun in the match against Zimbabwe Thursday, scribbling and comparing notes on the clash the Nigerians won 2-0.
Interestingly, the three men were registered as Nigerian officials for the tournament, lending credence to speculations that had an important task to perform regarding the Super Eagles.
A Sport Ministry official hinted PANA that a new technical team would likely take over the national team after the Nations Cup finals, but was silent on the fate of head coach Austin Eguavoen and his four assistants -- Samson Siasia, Daniel Amochachi, Ike Shorunmu and Amusa Adisa, who are all Nigerians.
If a foreign coach is eventually hired, it would be the first time Nigeria is going after a foreign coach since the departure of Johannes Bonfere, who was sacked in the wake of Super Eagles' poor run towards Korea/Japan World Cup finals in 2002.
