Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Host Egypt emerged winner of Group A Saturday after beating Cote d'Ivoire 3-1 in a match that decided which side would top the chart at the end of the group stages.
The Ivorians, who went into the match top of the group with six points from two games, will now settle for the runners-up slot as the two teams advance into the quarterfinals.
Two goals from Emad Moteab and one from compatriot Abdelzaher Saqa were sufficient to advance the host nation, while Aruna Kone got the lone goal for the West Africans.
In the other group match, Morocco and Libya played to a goalless draw, with both teams packing their bags for home.
