Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Cameroon qualified for the quarterfinals of the 25th Africa Cup of Nations here Wednesday following its 2-0 victory over Togo in a group B match staged in the military academy stadium of the Egyptian capital.
Striker Samuel Eto'o fils scored the first goal for the "Indomitable Lions" at the 67th minute before substitute Albert Meyong Ze rounded up the scoring at the 83rd minute.
Today's goal against the "Hawks" of Lome raised the Barcelona Club striker's goal tally to four to make him the leading scorer since the CAN finals kicked-off last Friday.
The Togolese, who are bound for the FIFA World Cup finals in Germany later this year, had put up a spirited fight to hold the central Africans to a 0-0 draw at half-time before Eto'o shook Kossi Agassa's net with a rasping shot from outside the penalty box.
It is the same striker's spadework on the right flank that enabled Meyong Ze to slot the ball home with a beautiful heel touch past Agassa and stunned defender.
Cameroon became the second team after Cote d'Ivoire to qualify for the quarterfinals of the continental soccer bonanza, whose final will be on 10 February.
