Port Said, Egypt (PANA) - After missing the opening match against Ghana's Black Stars, Nigerian striker John Utaka has been confirmed to play in the starting line-up of the Super Eagles when they take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the second Group D match on Friday in Port Said, Egypt.
Team Coach Austin Eguavoen told PANA Wednesday that the Stade Rennes of France striker would return to the team in the next match bearing any unforeseen circumstances.
The coach revealed at the team's Helnan Hotel that the return of the striker is to confirm the determination of the Eagles not to underrate any opposition.
Utaka, who scored the winning goal that sent the defending champions Cameroon out of the last finals in Tunisia, served the mandatory two match ban by FIFA for the red card he received in the Eagles World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Oran and he has served the ban by missing the last qualifier against Zimbabwe and the opening against Ghana in Port Said.
Although the coach did not reveal the player Utaka will replace, a PANA investigation showed that Osaze Odinwingie, who played from the right side of the midfield, is likely to give way for him.
