Port Said, Egypt (PANA) - The Super Eagles' camp heaved a big sigh of relieve here Tuesday after injured Paul Obiefule was certified medically fit to resume full training ahead of Nigeria's next match Friday in the ongoing CAN tournament in Egypt.
The player had slumped in training Saturday and Nigerians celebrated their vital lone-goal win over rival Ghana in the opening Group D match Monday, with some concern after his condition was said to have worsened.
After expressing the fear that Obiefule could be ruled out of the tournament, the team doctors now say they are quite satisfied with his recovery rate as he trained with the team Tuesday afternoon at the El-Merreik Club stadium.
An elated coach Austin Eguavoen expressed satisfaction with his (Obiefule's) contribution in training but refused to say whether the player would be used in the next match against Zimbabwe or the decisive final group match against Senegal.
"I am happy that he is back and it's a big psychological boost to the team because we were all worried when the incident happened. And now that he is back he will join the rest of the team and fight for a shirt because the guiding principle for us at the competition is for everybody to fight and get what he deserves," the coach added.
