Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - Senegal's Teranga Lions played out a 0-0 draw with Simba of DR Congo in a drab friendly at the Dakar Stadium Saturday as both countries prepare for the African Nations Cup (CAN) championship opening in Cairo, Egypt Friday.
The Lions missed several scoring chances including substitute Diomansy Kamara's penalty kick saved by the Congolese goalie Pascal Lukoki in the 85th minute.
Senegal paraded many of its stars, including El-Hadji Diouf, Henri Camara, captain Ferdinand Coly and goalkeeper Tony Sylva.
The resilient Simba, playing without skipper Lomana LuaLua thwarted the efforts of the Lions, whose lack-lustre performance angered many fans who booed the home side at the end of the match.
Some fans even started leaving the stadium before Gambia referee Modou Sowe sounded the final whistle.
Senegal, handled by indigenous coach Abdoulaye Sarr is grouped with Nigeria, Zimbabwe and World Cup debutants Ghana, in the Nations Cup tournament in Egypt.
Frenchman Claude Leroy-coached DR Congo is paired against Angola,Cameroon and another World Cup first-timer Togo.
