Alexandria, Egypt (PANA) - As expected, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon with Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o as the arrow-head zoomed into the quarter-finals of the Africa Nations Cup with a 2-0 win over hard-fighting DR Congo, who also qualified at the expense of World Cup-bound Togo on goal difference in a dramatic Group B final match.

Geremi Njitap put the Lions ahead in the 31st minute with a free-kick from outside the box in the game at Alexandria.

Eto'o made it 2-0 two minutes later with his fifth goal of the tournament.

But DR Congo held on even with 10 men after Gladys Bokese was sent off for rough tackle in the second half.

The Simbas struggled to maintain the score and with an ear on the proceedings at the Cairo International Stadium venue of the second Group B match where Angola almost spoilt the party for the Congolese.

Cameroon, who led Group B with nine maximum points advance to the quarter-finals along with DR Congo on four points, same as Angola, but with superior goal difference.

In the other Group B match played simultaneously in Cairo, Flavio Amado opened scoring for the Angolans in the eighth minute only for Kader Coubadja to equalise for the Togo in the 24th.

Togo's Kassim Guyazou was dismissed for picking a second yellow card in the 29th minute, thereby allowing Flavio to make it 2-1 for Angola before the break.

But against the run of play, Togo's Cherif Toure Mamam levelled the scores only for Norberto Maurito to raise the stakes by scoring Angola's third with five minutes to go to make it 3-2.

But that was as far as the Angolans' fairy tale run could take them in CAN 2006.

While Cameroon take on Cote d'Ivoire, and hosts Egypt battle DR Congo in the quarter-finals, Angola along with fellow World Cup debutantes Togo must now return to the drawing board for serious transformation if they are to make any impact at the Germany World Cup finals kicking off in June.
