Alexandria, Egypt (PANA) - A goal in each half against South Africa on Wednesday in Alexandria enabled Tunisia to earn six points and qualify for the quarterfinals of the 25th Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Egypt.

Tunisian striker of Brazilian origin, Francileudo Dos Santos, opened the scoring for the 2004 CAN winners at the 32nd minute to raise his goal tally to four since the tournament started last Friday.

Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto'o fils is the only other attacker who has scored four goals in the tournament, which kicked off on 20 January and ends 10 February 2006.

Selim Benchour added the second in the 57th off a defensive blunder by the South Africans, who are yet to score a goal in the biennial African soccer bonanza.

In the last group C match, Tunisia will play Guinea, which beat Zambia 2-1 in hard-fought match earlier on. The two teams have already secured their quarterfinal slots after winning two group matches in a row.

Neither Zambia nor South Africa can garner the required points to move to move to the next stage.

Tunisia and Cote d'Ivoire are the only one among the five African teams qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany to make it to the CAN quarterfinals together with Cameroon, which failed to qualify for the World Cup finals to be staged in June-July this year.
