Cote d'Ivoire ousted Cameroon from the 25th Africa Cup of Nations tournament in a dramatic penalty shootout, after the two sides deadlocked 1-1 after extra time, with a final score of 12-11 during their match played in Cairo's Military Stadium on Saturday.
Goalless at half time, the two teams ended regulation time drawn 1-1. The status quo remained till after extra time when the game went into penalties.
Unfortunately for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, it was their best striker and African Footballer of the Year Samuel Eto'o Fils who missed the crucial penalty that saw the Elephants book the hard-earned semi-final berth.
As could expected, Eto'o felt dejected leaving as his captain Rigobert Song and other team-mates tried to comfort him.
For the Ivorians, it was time to celebrate for the historical win.
Now the Elephants are the only World Cup qualifiers still in the competition after Angola, Ghana, Tunisia and Togo were booted out.
The Elephants will on Tuesday face the Super Eagles of Nigeria, who shunted Tunisia aside 7-6 in the first penalty shootout result of the day played in Port Said.
The teams had been deadlocked 1-1 after extra time before going into penalties.
Hosts Egypt will face Senegal in the second semi-final match on Tuesday in Cairo.
