FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter arrived here Wednesday at the head of a powerful 10-man delegation from soccer's governing body.
While in Ghana, Mr. Blatter will Saturday commission a number of projects undert aken in Ghana, under the auspices of FIFA, and participate in some CAN 2008 prog r ammes.
The projects to be commissioned include the Ghanaian Technical Centre at Pramp ram, the artificial turf at the Tema Sports Stadium and the Headquarters buildin g of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Also on the FIFA team are Mr. Jerome Valcke, the General Secretary, Mr. Michel P latini, the UEFA President, FIFA Vice-President and Deputy Chairman of the FIFA G oal Bureau, Mr. Pascal Torres, and Mr. Pekka Odriozola, of the Communications Di v ision.
The rest are Mr. Guy-Philippe Mathieu, Assistant to the FIFA President, Mr. Samp son J. Kablan, FIFA Development Officer for West Africa, Mr. David Taylor, Gener a l Secretary of UEFA, Mr. Kevin Lamour, Assistant to the UEFA Officer, and Mr. Di a llo Souleymane, assistant FIFA Development Officer for West Africa.
The FIFA President and his entourage will also grace the opening ceremony of Gha na 2008 and watch the opening match between Ghana and Guinea at the Ohene Djan S p orts Stadium here Sunday as part of their four-day duty tour.
At the airport to welcome the FIFA delegation was Dr. Kofi Amoah, Chairman of th e Local Organising Committee of CAN 2008, Mr. Mustapha Fahmy, General Secretary o f CAF and members of the GFA.
