Ghana's national football team's kit sponsor, Puma, fulfilled its promise to the Black Stars FC by donating a 53-seater Mercedes-Benz Tourisimo bus to the team.
The donation came as a morale booster to the team ahead its opening of the 26th African Cup of Nations competition against Guinea Sunday.
Puma promised the bus soon after the Black Stars' encouraging show at Germany 2006, where they were the only African country to go beyond the first round.
At a brief, but colourful ceremony, President of Puma, Jochen Zeitz handed the keys of the giant bus to Kwesi Nyantekyi, President of the Ghana Football Association.
Zeitz said Puma was happy to be associated with the Black Stars and hoped Ghana would join the winning trail of teams sponsored by the German kit manufacturer by winning the African Cup of Nations.
"We are happy to be part of the Black Stars. We feel proud of our association. Puma hopes this bus will bring hope to our team and after Egypt, Ghana will win the Cup," he said.
Nyantakyi underscored Ghana's recent appeal to the corporate world and hoped the Black Stars would indeed be part of Puma's title winning sides.
"The FA is enjoying lots of support from the corporate community.
"It's a further boost and a further commitment from Puma. Puma is an excellent brand and the Black Stars are an excellent brand too.
"We have no doubt about the two excellent brands in co-operation. Puma has discharged its contract creditably.
"Since 2000, Puma teams have been winning the CAN. And in 2008, what I am sure about is that, a Puma team will win and that Puma team is Ghana," said Nyantekyi.
Black Stars captain, John Mensah together with team coach, Claude Le Roy, who were present at the ceremony received the keys from Mr Nyantekyi on behalf of the team.
