Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - North African football rivals Egypt and Morocco Tuesday played to a goalless draw at the Cairo International Stadium in the second match of Group A in the ongoing 25th edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN).
With official statistics putting ball possession at 50 percent each, the two teams failed to capitalise on the few chances created in the game to walk away with the three points that were at stake.
The barren match leaves host Egypt on four points behind group leaders Cote d'Ivoire with six points, while Morocco occupies the third place with one point and Libya with no point, having conceded two defeats in two outings.
The group's last matches will be played simultaneously on 28 January with Egypt locking horns against Cote d'Ivoire and Morocco playing Libya.
Egypt would need at least a draw in the Ivorian clash to ensure that a possible massive Moroccan win in the Libyan tie doesn't turn the table in the group, where Cote d'Ivoire has already booked a place in the quarterfinals.
