Mohsen Salah officially resigned as Egypt coach on Sunday after his team's elimination from the African Nations Cup at the first round stage.
Salah had already said that he would quit on his return to Cairo after Egypt failed to progress to the knockout stages of the ongoing tournament in Tunisia having lost a crucial game to bitter rivals Algeria as well as beating Zimbabwe and drawing with Cameroon.
President of the Egyptian Football Federation Youssef Harb Al-Dahchouri announced Salah's decision at a news conference here and also said the rest of the coach's technical staff had also resigned.
Al-Dahchouri told reporters that a foreign coach will be appointed in time to take charge of the team ahead of the qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup which get underway in June.
