Injured Nigerian striker Julius Aghahowa could still play in the African Nations Cup quarter-final versus Cameroon here later Sunday, according to coach Christian Chukwu.
"Aghahowa will not be starting the match but he will be on the substitutes' bench," Chukwu told AFP.
The striker suffered a thigh strain in the 2-1 win over Benin in a Group D match on Wednesday and has not trained in the past two days raising serious doubts his availability for the Cameroon crunch game.
The 21-year-old Aghahowa, who stars for Ukrainian side Shaktar Donetsk, was joint top scorer at the last Nations Cup in Mali with three goals.
He also scored three goals at the 2000 edition of the championship jointly staged by Ghana and Nigeria.
