Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o has predicted that he will end his African Nations Cup goal drought against old rivals Nigeria in the quarter-finals here on Sunday.
Despite having played in all three of the defending champions' group matches, the Real Mallorca star has yet to find the back of the net and has been overshadowed by strike partner Patrick Mboma who already has four goals to his name.
"I did my best to score in the group games but I failed to find the net," said Eto'o.
"But in the quarter-finals, you are going to see a goal from Samuel Eto'o. It is true I have had problems beating the opposing goalkeeper but this can't go on forever."
Eto'o is also optimistic that Cameroon, bidding for a third successive African title and a record fifth in all, will get past Nigeria and book a place in the semi-finals.
"We have great pride in our team," said Eto'o.
"It certainly won't be easy against Nigeria but we are ready to raise our game.
"We are in a good position to win and put our opponents in their place and go onto to keep our title."
