Cameroon and Nigeria renew rivalry in African shootout

Four-time champions Cameroon and two-time winners Nigeria renew their long-standing rivalry on Sunday in the glamour tie of the African Nations Cup quarter-finals.
Nigeria's Super Eagles will be aiming to break a 12-year winless run against their old rivals in Monastir.
The last time Nigeria beat the Indomitable Lions in a competitive game was in the third-place match at the 1992 Nations Cup in Senegal, which the Super Eagles won 2-1.
"Playing against a big team like Cameroon can only bring out the best in us," said Nigeria's Everton defender Joseph Yobo.
"It is a big test for us and we have a chance to prove we are equal to the task because from the knockout stage of the competition it's winner takes all."
The 23-year-old central defender is relishing a head-to-head clash with Cameroon striker Patrick Mboma, who has scored four goals and is closing in on the event's all-time goals record.
The much-travelled Cameroon hitman has clearly spelt out his targets at Tunisia 2004.
"If we can win the trophy and I score three or four more goals, I will be the happiest man on earth," said the 33-year-old Tokyo Verdy player.
"Records interest me but at the same time my personal ambition should not come before the expectations of millions of Cameroonians, who are waiting for the cup."
But while Cameroon will have their full compliment of players, Nigeria will be without expelled stars Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Celestine Babayaro and Victor Agali who, despite being recalled to the squad, have all refused to return.
Portsmouth striker Aiyegbeni, Chelsea defender Babayaro and Schalke 04 striker Agali were all kicked out last week for breaking a curfew.
The winners of the match will take on either hosts Tunisia or World Cup quarter-finalists Senegal for a place in the February 14 final.
In Sfax, meanwhile, Morocco and Algeria clash in a north African derby with 20,000 Algerian fans set to make the short trip across the border for the match from which the winners will face either Mali or Guinea.
Algeria, who eliminated old rivals Egypt on their way to the last eight, will start as underdogs against a Moroccan side unbeaten in 16 matches.
Both teams have won this tournament once - Morocco in 1976 and Algeria in
However, Sunday's game will be overshadowed by security fears in the port town.
Security officials warned local fans not to attend the potentially explosive match, classified as 'high risk' at the Taeib M'hiri stadium which only holds 22,000 people.
"The Algerian fans will be a menace if their team loses," said one worried shopkeeper.
After the team's win over Egypt in the first round, the Algerian Football Federation was hit with a 5,000-dollar fine because of their fans' behaviour which included throwing missiles on to the pitch.
