Nigeria's inspirational skipper Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha is to be named the top player at this year's African Nations Cup, a senior official of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) told AFP here.
'Jay Jay', who has scored two goals including a sweetly struck free kick against defending champions Cameroon for a place in the semi-finals, will receive his award after the Nations Cup final between hosts Tunisia and Morocco on Saturday.
The Bolton Wanderers' star is also in line for the 2003 CAF African Footballer of the Year award which will be announced at a ceremony in Yaounde, Cameroon, in April.
The decision to crown the 30-year-old midfielder was reached during the meeting of the tournament's organising committee here on Thursday.
