Former Senegal coach Bruno Metsu and Philippe Troussier, who coached Japan at the last World Cup, are on a shortlist of candidates to become the new coach of Egypt, press reports said here on Tuesday.
The team's previous boss Mohsen Salah quit on Sunday following the team's dismal first round exit at the African Nations Cup in Tunisia.
Metsu guided Senegal to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2002 and is currently in charge of United Arab Emirates' club side Al-Ain but according to the Al Gomhouria newspaper, the Frenchman is demanding a million-dollar salary.
Meanwhile, Al-Ahram has predicted that Troussier, currently in charge of the Qatar national team, is also being sounded out for the job.
