Algerian football chiefs will face more sanctions after 69 people were hurt and widespread damage caused when Algerian fans went on a violent rampage following their team's African Nations Cup elimination at the hands of Morocco.
Trouble broke out at the Sfax ground after Youssef Hadji had put Morocco in front in extra-time in Sunday's match on the team's way to a 3-1 win.
Supporters ripped up plastic seats and threw them on to the pitch before Tunisian police charged a section of the stadium which was stretched to bursting point with 20,000 Algerian fans inside.
The official Tunisian news agency (TAP) said Tuesday that 51 Algerians were hurt as well as 14 police in the incidents.
"One Moroccan and three Tunisian spectators were also hurt as they were hit by the seats being thrown on to the pitch," the agency reported.
The trouble continued outside the ground with cars vandalised, traffic signals smashed while some shopkeepers reported Algerian fans refusing to pay for goods.
The Confederation of African Football is due to meet here on Thursday to decide on disciplinary action against the Algerian federation who have already been fined 5,000 dollars after their fans threw missiles on to the pitch during their 2-1 first round win over old rivals Egypt in Sousse.
