Port Said, Egypt (PANA) - The possibility that Ghana and Senegal may still edge out Nigeria on Tuesday should the Super Eagles flop against the Senegalese in the final Group D match has waned the euphoria that greeted Nigeria's potential qualification after the 2-0 win over Zimbabwe.
Although Nigeria tops the group with two wins, the variables indicate after Ghana's lone goal win over Senegal and a possible massive win on Tuesday against hapless 'Warriors' of Zimbabwe, the Super Eagles must guide against losing with too many goals in the Senegal tie, else it will be bye, bye to the Nations Cup.
But coach Austin Eguavoen reaffirmed Monday the Super Eagles' quest to top the group and vowed not to underrate the Senegalese when they meet at the Port Said Stadium.
"All I will say is two down one to go. We want to take on the Senegalese as if we are goals down because its going to be a delicate tie since we only need a draw to top the group and remain here (Egypt)," he said.
"It's a feat we want to achieve if we hope to play in the final match on the 10th of next month (February). My players are in the right frame of mind to deliver the match to millions of Nigerians back home," the coach said.
