The son of Ullrich Stielike, who stepped down as Ivory Coast coach days before the African Nations Cup, has died.
Stielike resigned his post last month to return to his native Germany after his son fell into a coma.
Confirming the news, Ivory Coast media officer Eric Kakou said on Friday: "We regret to announce the death of coach Ullrich Stielike's son."
Ivory Coast face Guinea in the quarter-finals on Monday with Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou saying: "We're going to try to win the Cup for Stielike."
In Stielike's absence Gerard Gili of France was appointed to take charge of the Ivory Coast team in Ghana.
