Even as Coach Austin Eguavoen has admitted that his opponent in Saturday's quarterfinal match, Tunisia, are tactically better than the Super Eagles, his opposite of the Carthage Eagles, Roger Lemerre, has predicted "a very difficult" match against Nigeria at Port Said Stadium.
Lemerre told PANA Friday after his team's light workout at the El-Merrick stadium, that Nigeria was "one of the teams that have the potentials to win the competition".
"We know that we have a difficult match ahead of us against Nigeria because they are very difficult to predict. Playing against them is more cumbersome than playing either Cameroon or Cote d'Ivoire.
"Everybody have seen the brilliant display of Cameroon and Cote d'Ivoire and their games revolve around their star players, but in the case of Nigeria, most of their established stars are down with injuries and yet the team is still very formidable, that is what is giving me a lot of worries about the match," Lemerre pointed out.
The Tunisian coach, however, thinks that if his players maintain full concentration in the match, "they have all it takes to overcome Nigeria just like they did two years ago" in the semi-finals of the 2002 African Nations Cup in Tunisia.
"We defeated Nigeria two years ago and my wish is to repeat the feat here in Port Said, but all I praying for is the total commitment from the players throughout the match," he said.
