Ivorian coach, Frenchman Henri Michel, said Thursday in Cairo that Saturday's quarter-finals match between his team and Cameroon's "Indomitable Lions" will be a tough game.
"The match will be a difficult one because the two teams know each other well since we met during the joint 2006 World Cup/African Cup of Nations qualifying matches. In view of this, each side is out to revenge," he said.
Michel, however, said his team was determined to beat Cameroon who were pipped for a ticket to the World Cup by the Ivorians.
"Everybody knows the threat Samuel Eto'o Fils has posed in the tournament and the psychological advantage Cameroon has over Cote d'Ivoire due to its two victories in the World Cup/CAN qualifying matches. We also know that the Cameroonians will not give up and are known for their physical play. But I believe that the battle will be in the midfield and Côte d'Ivoire is determined to win that battle," he said.
He added: "The Elephants must win this game to demonstrate to all that they did not qualify for the World Cup by chance. In the light of their first performances, the players mean to prove that they can be relied on. We have drawn the lessons of the first matches as far as efficiency is concerned."
Cameroon led Group B with three victories (9 points) as against two victories and one defeat for Côte d'Ivoire took second place in Group A with 6 points.
